Justification
This subspecies has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 15 373 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 92 km². It has no known threats. It is the less widespread form of the species, but is still reasonably common in fragments and is known from at least 20 subpopulations. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

It is endemic to South Africa, and ranges from Robertson and Bonnievale to Swellendam and eastward to Riversdale and Albertinia.

Description
It occurs on stony clay or granitic soils mainly in renosterveld scrub, rarely on limestone in fynbos, now largely restricted to road verges or stony sides.
