Justification | This species is widespread and common, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 27 602 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 112 km². It is not in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern. |

This species has lost a small portion of its habitat due to agriculture (crop farming) and livestock grazing in some parts of its range. |
Population |
It is a relatively common species of the dry interior valleys of the Western Cape (Manning and Goldblatt 2010), and plants are often locally abundant in the Little Karoo (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2010). The population occurs in 25-30 subpopulations and has a stable trend. Only one subpopulation has population size data, where between 100-250 plants were observed in Sandkraal in 2004.
