This species is widespread with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 280 922 km² and area of occupancy (AOO) of 664 km². It is known from at least 35 locations, and is not in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

It is found in South Africa, from Soutpansberg to Zeerust and Durban, also extending through Swaziland and Mozambique to Zambia and southern Tanzania.
