Justification | This subspecies has a national extent of occurrence (EOO) of 36 940 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 124 km². Although still fairly common, it is declining due to habitat loss predominantly to coastal development and urban expansion. Between 20-25 locations are estimated to remain in South Africa. It is listed as Near Threatened. |

Threats |
This subspecies has lost 34% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS). It is threatened by habitat loss to coastal and urban development, quarrying and crop cultivation in the southern part of its range, where it is also most common. Further north, it is potentially threatened by habitat loss to coastal dune mining. |
Population |
It is most common on the Vredenburg Peninsula, and occurs as isolated subpopulations further north (Manning and Goldblatt 2010). It is known from between 20-25 extant locations, with a decreasing population trend.
