Description
Deeper clay and sandy soils among rocky outcrops on gentle slopes.
Threats
This species has been recorded from two farms. On one farm, where three large subpopulations occur, there are no apparent threats, however, on the second farm, plants have been recorded in small, scattered clumps among expanding crop fields. This species' preference for rocky habitat may offer it some protection against ploughing, but its habitat is also often dammed (N.A. Helme pers. obs.).
Population

A highly localized, but locally common species. Three large subpopulations have been recorded on the southern and north-eastern foothills of Driefontein se Berg (Goldblatt and Manning 2011), and a few scattered plants were recorded on the farm Vondelingsfontein about 25 km further south.
