Seasonally wet, shallow, sandy soils overlying sandstone pavements on summit plateaux.
Threats
Habitat loss to crop cultivation is the main threat to native plant species on the Gifberg and Matsikamma mountains. This subspecies' specific habitat is however unsuitable to ploughing and it is unlikely to be threatened.
