Threats
Expansion of crop cultivation has reduced this species' habitat in the past. Currently, all known remaining subpopulations are threatened by competition from alien invasive plants.
Population

Historically, this species has always had a very restricted range (original EOO 31 km²), and this has now been much reduced by habitat loss and degradation. Currently, two to three subpopulations remain. One is protected within the Riverlands Provincial Nature Reserve, where alien invasive plants have been cleared, but ongoing management is required to prevent reinvasion. Two other sites are overrun with invasive wattles. At one of these, the species was last recorded in 1995, and it is uncertain whether this subpopulation survives.
