Justification
A rare and localized species (EOO 20 km²), known from four locations and declining due to ongoing habitat loss to agricultural expansion. Subpopulations are very small, with three consisting of fewer than 50 mature individuals, while a fourth is larger, consisting of between 100 and 250 mature individuals. The population size is estimated as fewer than 450 mature individuals.

Description
Deeper, shale derived clay soils in Robertson Karoo.
Threats
Plants at two known locations are threatened by ongoing habitat loss to agricultural expansion, particularly vineyards and fruit orchards.
Population

This species is localized to a very small area, where four subpopulations have been recorded. Three of these consist of fewer than 50 mature individuals, but the fourth is larger consisting of at least 100 mature individuals (N.A. Helme, pers. obs. 2012).
