Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |
Provincial distribution | Western Cape |

Description | Lower to middle altitude slopes in stony, sandstone-derived soil. |
Threats |
The Caledon Swartberg is densely invaded by alien plants, which have caused extensive decline and degradation of the natural vegetation. Very little alien clearing has taken place and private landowners often refuse to do clearing, with the result that cleared areas are quickly reinvaded. |
Population |
Moraea longiaristata was once common on the Caledon Swartberg. However, only two subpopulations are known to remain, one consisting of between 10 and 50 mature individuals, the other of about 30 plants.
|
Population trend | Decreasing |
Conservation |
No remaining plants are protected in any formally protected areas. |
