Justification
Known from one subpopulation where there are between 500 and 800 mature individuals. Searches for additional subpopulations in the correct habitat at the correct altitude have thus far been unsuccessful. This species has no threats.
Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Western Cape
Range
Fonteintjiesberg.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Terrestrial
Major habitats
South Hex Sandstone Fynbos
Description
Wet, moss-covered Table Mountain Sandstone rocks at 1 400 m.
Threats
The only potential threat to this species is too frequent fire as the Hex River Mountains has experienced frequent return fire intervals over the past 15 years. There are a number of ridges that have been burnt two to three times within the past 12 years. Fortunately this species occurs in a habitat that is unlikely to burn: moss patches on rock pavements. It is unlikely to be impacted by frequent fires.
Population

Known only from one population of fewer than 800 plants. Searches of other suitable habitat nearby have not recorded any additional subpopulations.
