Watsonia vanderspuyiae has a restricted distribution range, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 7449 km². It is a fairly common species, and has no severe threats, and is therefore not in danger of extinction. It is listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and occurs from the southern Bokkeveld Escarpment and Matsikamma Mountains to Piketberg and the Koue Bokkeveld.

Description
It occurs on rocky sandstone slopes in fynbos, where plants are found wedged in cracks and crevices among rocks.
Threats
There are no known threats to Watsonia vanderspuyiae.
Population

This is a fairly common species, but seldom collected (Goldblatt 1989). It flowers infrequently, and generally only after fires.
