Justification
More common than previously thought, this species is now known from between six and eight remaining subpopulations. The largest, scattered across several properties in the Jacobsbaai area, consists of fewer than 500 mature individuals, and the total population size is estimated to be fewer than 1000 mature individuals. Declining due to ongoing habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation as a result of urban expansion, crop cultivation and limestone mining.

Description
Rocky or calcareous sandy sites near the coast, as well as limestone pavements on the Vredenburg Peninsula.
Threats
Threatened by ongoing habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation as a result of coastal and urban development, expansion of crop fields, as well as limestone and dune mining.
Population

Plants occur in small, scattered clumps spread across several properties in the Jacobsbaai area, and this subpopulation, the largest, is estimated to consist of fewer than 500 mature individuals. Further north on the Vredenburg Peninsula and northwards towards Lambert's Bay, plants have been recorded from small, isolated fragments surrounded by crop fields, where subpopulations consist of fewer than 50 plants, and the total population size is estimated to number fewer than 1000 mature individuals.
