Justification
The genus Stomatium is in need of revision and most species are poorly understood. The distribution range and habitat requirements of S. paucidens are not certain, and it has not been recorded in the wild since 1944. Therefore its risk of extinction cannot be assessed at present.

Unknown. The species was described from cultivated material of unknown origin. Specimens in the Bolus Herbarium matched to the description suggest that it occurs between Fauresmith and Noupoort.
