Justification
Erica pyxidiflora is a range-restricted endemic to the Cape Peninsula, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 184 km². It is locally common and has no severe threats, and is therefore not in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed under the IUCN 3.1 Criteria, globally, as Least Concern but is nationally categorised as Rare.

Description
It occurs on damp upper slopes in sandstone fynbos.
Threats
Subpopulations of Erica pyxidiflora outside protected areas are threatened by competition from alien invasive plants, as well as urban expansion in the area around Fish Hoek and Simon's Town. Most of its habitat is however protected.
Population

This species is common in sandstone fynbos across the Cape Peninsula. The population is not suspected to be declining.
