This species generally occurs in inaccessible places at the bottom of steep gorges, and therefore it is under no severe threat (T. Abbott pers. comm.). |
Population |
Locally very common, especially on banks of the Icwaka River (Van Wyk and Archer 1987), each subpopulation exceeds 200 individuals (Scott-Shaw 1999).
