Justification
This species is rare in scarp forests of KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape and has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 7 283 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 40 km². It is known from between six and 10 locations and is experiencing ongoing loss of habitat due to firewood collection especially in north eastern parts of its range. It therefore qualifies as Vulnerable under criterion B.
Distribution

Description
It grows in coastal, scarp and riverine forests and on rocky outcrops, at 10-300 m.
Threats
Scarp forest where this species occurs in Nkandla/Ngoye is classified as Critically Endangered due to extensive past clearing of forests. Direct threats to this species are unknown, but forest patches outside and in the protected areas, particularly at Ngoye Reserve are under threat from firewood collection and this is inferred to be causing ongoing decline in habitat quality.
Population

It is known from few, small, widely scattered populations. The population size and trend for this species is unknown. Monitoring is required as this species might be impacted by firewood collection.

Decreasing
