Description
Rocky slopes in dolomite or granite.
Threats
The most severe threats to plant species in the Richtersveld is severe overgrazing, which has led to a loss of shrub cover, species diversity and erosion due to trampling of exposed soil in many places. This species is not likely to be grazed, but is potentially vulnerable to trampling.
Population

This species is known from two isolated subpopulations, one in southern Namibia, the other near Eksteenfontein in the Richtersveld. Strumaria species have extremely limited dispersal abilities (D. Snijman pers. comm. 2015), and dispersal between these two subpopulations is therefore unlikely. It is however possible that other, overlooked subpopulations exist elsewhere in the northern Richtersveld and southern Namibia.
