Major habitats
Namaqualand Granite Renosterveld
Description
Well-drained sandy soil or stony granite soil in renosterveld.
Threats
About 5% of this species' habitat, Namaqualand Granite Renosterveld, is currently cultivated, and crop fields are expanding sporadically, as this area is only marginally suitable for cultivation. At both known locations, surrounding areas have been recently ploughed, but this species' preference for rocky soils may afford it some protection against the impact of expanding cultivation. Parts of the Kamiesberg range are also severely overgrazed, however, Trachyandra species are generally unpalatable and thus not negatively affected by overgrazing. Species of this group, with their fleshy roots, are considered resilient to grazing.
Population

This species is currently known from only two subpopulations within a small area.
