Justification
Aloe petrophila is a rare and localized species, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 5 km². It has no severe threats and is therefore not suspected to be in danger of extinction.²

Description
It occurs in rock crevices, pockets and ledges on vertical rock faces in Soutpansberg Mountain Bushveld.
Threats
Plants in accessible sites are potentially threatened by illegal succulent collecting. The population in general has no severe threats (Van Wyk and Smith 2014).

Aloe petrophila is localized, but common within its habitat (Van Wyk and Smith 2014).
