This species is widespread along the eastern Mpumalanga escarpment from Bushbuckridge to Piet Retief in South Africa. It also occurs in western Swaziland.

Description
It occurs in shaded areas in river valleys and ravines, 1000-1500 m.
Threats
A. dyeri is not threatened (Van Wyk and Smith 2003).
Population

Aloe dyeri is a widespread species, but known from only a few, scattered records. It is most likely poorly collected, rather than rare or threatened. The population is not suspected to be declining.
