Threats | | A localized and very attractive miniature succulent, this species is popular in horticulture, and field observations indicate that plants are often removed from the wild, and that it has already declined extensively (J.H. Vlok and A.L. Schutte-Vlok pers. obs.). Twenty nine plants of Haworthia truncata var. truncata were included in confiscations between March 2019 and December 2021, many more are likely to have been removed from the wild but not intercepted by law enforcement efforts.
In addition, it is threatened by habitat destruction as a result of expanding ostrich farming as well as urban expansion around Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn. |
