Justification
A taxonomically problematic species, previously considered synonymous with H. mirabilis (Bayer 1982) and not recognised by Bayer in Manning and Goldblatt (2012), but reinstated in Bayer and Manning (2012) out of H. serrata as well as various varieties of H. variegata, mirabilis and heidelbergensis (the latter now considered synonymous with H. mirabilis). Until taxonomically resolved, its risk of extinction cannot be assessed.

Notes
Haworthia has been plagued with an overprolification of names, recognising variation over similarity, and causing much confusion (Bayer and Manning 2012). The genus needs to be revised using population-level molecular techniques in order for species concepts to be resolved (J.C. Manning pers. comm. 2014).
