This species is widespread across tropical Africa to Malaysia and Australia. In South Africa it is found on the KwaZulu-Natal coast and the Limpopo Lowveld.

Description
It occurs in open woodland, sand forest and dune forest, floodplains and rocky outcrops, often in disturbed places and secondary forest.
Population

This is a common annual species that is resilient to disturbance. The population is not suspected to be declining.
