Description
It occurs on sandy flats on the Cape Peninsula, elsewhere it occurs on rock ledges and in gullies.
Threats
Restio cincinnatus has lost habitat to urban expansion on the Cape Peninsula in the past, but remaining habitat on the Peninsula is now protected, and habitat loss is no longer a significant threat. The subpopulation in the Riviersonderend Mountain is threatened by competition from uncontrolled alien invasive plants.
Population

This species is common on the southern Cape Peninsula, but rarer elsewhere in its range. It is known from three disjunct subpopulations.
