Restio nanus is widespread and common in montane areas where it is not threatened. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 8852 km², and is listed as Least Concern.

Description
It occurs on sandy plateaus above 1200 m, often seasonally wet.
Threats
There are no threats to Restio nanus.
Population

This species is common on high altitude sandy plateaus such as Hexberg, Fonteintjiesberg and around Miler Peak (Linder 2011).
