There are no threats to Restio insignis.
Population

A fairly widespread species, but only known from a few collections. It is difficult to distinguish from Restio strobolifer (Linder 1985), although the two species occur in separate habitats and at different altitudes (Linder 2011). Due to the taxonomic confusion, this species may be overlooked. Plants occur as scattered individuals, not forming clumps or distinctive subpopulations.

Population trend
Stable
Notes
The taxonomic validity of this species was in question (Linder 1985), however, it was upheld in a recent reclassification of the Restioneae, based on molecular evidence (Linder and Hardy 2010).
