Justification
EOO 110 km², herbarium specimens indicate that this species was once widespread and common, especially on the Cape Flats. It has lost over 95% of its habitat to urban development, crop cultivation and severe infestations of invasive alien plants. It is now extant at only four locations, loss is continuing due to alien plant invasion and draining of wetlands.
