Taxonomy
Scientific Name
Melolobium subspicatum Conrath
Higher Classification
Dicotyledons
Family
FABACEAE
National Status

Vulnerable D2
Assessment Date

Assessor(s)

Justification
Very small pockets of suitable habitat remain within the Gauteng province (AOO estimated <20 km²). Development is currently prohibited on any locations where it occurs, and although most of the habitat has already been lost, there is no continuing decline. Habitat fragmentation has however resulted in an altered fire regime (fires occur either too frequently or not at all), which may potentially affect the remaining subpopulations.
