Justification
A habitat specialist with a natural low density of individuals, all subpopulations that have been recorded consist of only a handful of individuals. This species only flowers after fire.

Description
Seepages, marsh edges and ephemeral stream banks, in shallow peaty deposits on Table Mountain Sandstone, 20-1300 m.

Population

Occurs in small subpopulations of less than 15 flowering plants, although a larger subpopulation of 60-70 flowering individuals were observed once (Liltved and Johnson, unpubl.).

It is conserved in the Groot Winterhoek Wilderness Area, Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve and Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve.
