Justification
Gnidia nitida is a rare and poorly known species with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 40 512 km². It is not suspected to be in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found from Namaqualand southwards along the arid eastern edge of the fynbos biome to the western Little Karoo.

Description
It occurs on rocky lower slopes at ecotones between shale and granite and sandstone in arid fynbos.
Threats
There are no known threats to Gnidia nitida.
Population

It is known from only a few records, scattered over a wide area. It is possibly overlooked, as its habitat is botanically relatively poorly explored. The population is not suspected to be declining, but monitoring is needed to confirm this.
