Justification | This Riviersonderend mountain endemic is known from a very restricted range, and has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 129 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 36 km². It is known from seven locations and is declining as a result of competition from invasive alien pines. It therefore qualifies for listing as Vulnerable under criterion B. |

| This species is threatened by competition from alien invasive pines throughout its range. |
Population |
Subpopulations were thought to be very small and localized, consisting of fewer than 50 mature individuals and this is the reason why this species was listed as Critically Endangered in 2012. However, field observations made between 2019 and 2022 indicate that this species is locally common on damp and recently burnt slopes. The population trend is still suspected to be declining as there are severe infestations of alien plants throughout its range.
