Threats
This species has lost most of its habitat to crop cultivation in the past. The only known remaining subpopulation occurs in a private nature reserve, and is not threatened at present.
Population

This species is known from only a few, very old historical records from the Tulbagh Valley, where it is now locally extinct due to habitat loss to agricultural expansion. It is currently known from a single, small subpopulation of about 100 mature individuals occurring in Swartland Alluvium Fynbos in a private nature reserve at the foot of the Elandsberg Mountains south-west of Tulbagh.
