Justification
Senecio cotyledonis is a widespread species occurring across the Little and Great Karoo. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 94 660 km², and it is known from more than 30 locations. It is not threatened and is listed as Least Concern.

Description
It grows in clay soils on lower slopes and flats.
Threats
There are no significant threats to Senecio cotyledonis.
Population

Plants of this species can be locally abundant in lowland succulent karoo, but are absent from fynbos and renosterveld (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2010).
