Justification
Osteospermum ilicifolium has a restricted distribution range, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 14 723 km². It is declining in parts of its range, but is also very common, particularly in montane areas where there are few threats, and is therefore not in danger of extinction. It is listed as Least Concern.

Description
It occurs on sandstone or limestone slopes in fynbos.
Threats
Osteospermum ilicifolium has declined on the coastal lowlands and alluvial plains due to habitat loss to agriculture and urban expansion. Currently, about 13% of its habitat is irreversibly modified, and loss continues. Most subpopulations in montane areas are however not threatened.

This species is widespread and common. It is declining in parts of its range.
