Habitat and Ecology |

Major habitats | Kosiesberg Succulent Shrubland, Central Richtersveld Mountain Shrubland |
Description | Sheltered below rocks on south and southeast-facing rocky mountain slopes. |
Threats |
This species occurs mainly on the central mountain ranges of the Richtersveld, where grazing pressure is currently low. Its preference for sheltered rocky crevices offers it some protection from the effects of trampling, and this species is not grazed (Craib 1997). It is unlikely to become threatened, even if grazing pressure increases. This species is popular in cultivation, and is potentially threatened by collectors removing mature individuals from the wild, for sale in the specialist succulent trade. |
Population |
This species occurs as scattered, small subpopulations (Craib 1997).
