Justification
Othonna arborescens is a range-restricted, but still relatively common species, in spite of extensive historical habitat loss in the southern part of its range. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 4814 km². It continues to decline, but is not yet in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Description
It occurs in coastal dunes or rocks.
Threats
Othonna arborescens has lost habitat to urban expansion on the Cape Flats and Cape Peninsula in the past. It continues to be threatened by coastal development on the Vredenburg Peninsula. Subpopulations around Mamre and Atlantis are also threatened by competition from alien invasive plants.
Population

It is a very common species on dunes along the Cape West Coast. In spite of extensive habitat loss, a large number of recent records indicate that it still persists in at least 20 locations. Sporadic losses of individuals to development continues.
