Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of less than 100 km², one subpopulation at one known location is declining due to overgrazing and inappropriate fire management. It is therefore listed as Critically Endangered under criterion B.

Description
It grows in relict fynbos surrounded by mixed grassland in shallow soil on flat quartzitic sandstone.
Threats
Plants at a single known location are threatened by uncontrolled overgrazing by cattle as well as too frequent fire. This species is a reseeder and likely to be negatively impacted by increasing fire cycles.
