Range
Utricularia cymbantha occurs in Madagascar and eastern Africa, from Ethiopia to South Africa. In South Africa it is confined between Lephalala River and Mpumalanga Drakensberg Escarpment.

Description
This species is freely suspended in deep or shallow pools and lakes, sometimes forming dense mats, at 900-1800 metres above sea level.
Threats
There are no known significant threats.
Population

Specimen records indicate that this species is rare. There are three known subpopulations, however the population size and trends are not known.
