Range | This species occurs along the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal coast from Pondoland to Port Elizabeth. An isolated subpopulation occurs in Sekhukhuneland on the border between Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces. |

Threats |
Historically, this species was heavily exploited for its fine timber, which is used for wood-carving, musical instruments and engraving. It is now a protected species, and harvesting is regulated. Wild populations are recovering. |
