This species has an area of occupancy (AOO) of 216 279 km² and an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 512 km². It is widespread and common and has no known threats. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Description
Plants grow on clay or lime slopes.
Threats
This species has no known threats. Suitable habitat within this species' range, particularly in the Western Cape province, continues to be degraded due to an increase in invasive alien species' infestations.
Population

No quantitative population data are available for this species, but it is known to occur in at least 60 subpopulations. There are 24 herbaria collections of this species with the date range from 1897 to 2011, along with 164 recent observation records on iNaturalist. The population trend is inferred to be stable.
