Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 1723 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 52 km². It is known from less than 10 severely fragmented subpopulations and has lost habitat to wheat cultivation and is declining due to further crop cultivation, expansion of low cost housing, and alien plant invasion. It therefore qualifies for listing as Endangered under criterion B.

South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Western Cape
Range
This species occurs from Piketberg to Tulbagh.

Major habitats
Swartland Shale Renosterveld, Breede Shale Renosterveld, Swartland Granite Renosterveld, Swartland Alluvium Fynbos, Breede Alluvium Fynbos
Description
Plants grow in moist, open, clay gravel flats.
Threats
This species has suffered extensive habitat loss to agriculture, and loss continues. A subpopulation that formerly occurred on the Gouda commonage was lost to urban expansion (G. Duncan pers. obs.). Remaining subpopulations at Gouda, Saron and Tulbagh are threatened by competition from alien invasive plants.
Population

Subpopulations are very small and isolated. At least one subpopulation known through historical records is now extinct, and a continuing decline is inferred from ongoing habitat loss and degradation.
