Justification
This species is widespread in South Africa (EOO 25 884 km²), and there are few threats to the population. It is therefore not considered to be in danger of extinction.

Rocky hillsides and stony koppies.
Threats
There are no severe threats to this species. A few subpopulations are affected by habitat loss to mining, but this affects only a small proportion of the population (Hahn 2013).

This species occurs in small, scattered subpopulations, seldom exceeding more than 25 mature individuals (Hahn 2013).
