A range-restricted species (EOO 1432 km²), known from seven location and declining due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation, as well as competition from alien invasive plants.

Description
Grassland, on rhyolite boulders.
Threats
A subpopulation on the urban edge of Witbank is threatened by habitat loss to urban expansion - a development that will destroy a part of the subpopulation has been approved (A. de Castro pers. comm. 2012). Other subpopulations are threatened by habitat degradation due to grazing and spreading of unmanaged alien invasive plants.
