Threats
This species has lost extensive habitat to agricultural expansion in the valleys along the northern side of the Langeberg between Montagu and Barrydale, and habitat loss predominantly to expanding vineyards continues. In addition, more than 50% of uncultivated renosterveld in the area is severely overgrazed (J.H. Vlok pers. obs.). Additional threats include habitat loss to quarrying and competition from alien invasive plants.
