Description
Montane grassland and wooded grassland.
Threats
Threatened in places by habitat loss to mining, particularly around Middelburg and in Sekhukhune. Much of the highveld grasslands between Middelburg and Lydenburg have been lost to crop cultivation and is degraded due to overgrazing. On the escarpment near Lydenburg it has also lost habitat to timber plantations. Most of its habitat in the Waterberg and Wolkberg is protected, however, spreading, unmanaged alien invasive plants as well as livestock grazing is causing ongoing habitat degradation in parts of the Wolkberg.
