Justification
Cyanella marlothii is known from a single, small subpopulation of fewer than 50 mature individuals scattered over an area of a few hectares, and declining due to severe overgrazing.

Threats
This species' habitat is already severely degraded due to overstocking of livestock, with a loss of species diversity and vegetation cover due to overgrazing and trampling.
Population

This species was previously known from a single collection from 1925, and not recorded since, until it was rediscovered in the same area as the first collection in 2014, a year of exceptionally good rainfall in the Richtersveld. It is known from a single, small subpopulation of fewer than 50 mature individuals.
