Justification
Podalyria calyptrata is a relatively widespread montane species, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 19 294 km². It is locally common on many mountains in the south-western Cape, and is not threatened. It is listed as Least Concern.

This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found from the Mountains of the Cape Peninsula to the Hottentots Holland, Riviersonderend, Langeberg, Kleinrivier mountains and the Potberg east of Bredasdorp.

Description
It occurs in mountain fynbos in marshy places in loamy sands below 1000m.
Threats
Invasive alien plants are likely causing some decline, but Podalyria calyptrata is still widespread and common, and unlikely to be in danger of extinction yet.
