Justification
Limnophyton obtusifolium is known from five locations in South Africa and is likely to occur at few more locations. It is potentially threatened by prolonged periods of droughts and invasion of habitat by alien plants.

Description
This aquatic herb grows in shallow temporary and permanent pools, ponds, ditches and swamps, up to 1000 m.
Threats
There are no known threats to the species, but it likely to be threatened by competition from alien invasive species and prolonged periods of droughts.
Population

This taxon is widely distributed, and is likely to be overlooked. It was last recorded in 1988 in South Africa.
