Description
Quartz patches and lower rocky slopes, in full sunlight.
Threats
The most severe threat to plant species in the Richtersveld is overgrazing, which has led to a loss of species diversity, shrub cover, as well as erosion in places. This species is not grazed, and is not dependent on shelter from nurse shrubs, and it has been recently recorded in areas affected by heavy overgrazing where other, more sensitive succulents are declining or have already disappeared. It is possibly threatened by erosion and trampling in some places. It is also likely to be targeted by succulent collectors, but the severity of collection pressure is not known.
Population

This species is widespread across the central and eastern Richtersveld, but is known from only a few, scattered collections. It is possibly under-sampled.
