Justification
This species has a wide distribution range, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 23 484 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 172 km², but within its habitat it is abundant, and has been recorded from 25 locations. It is declining due to habitat loss and degradation resulting from crop cultivation (Rooibos tea), and to competition from alien invasive plants, and therefore nearly meets the thresholds for Vulnerable under criterion B and is listed as Near Threatened.
